Andrew "MONK" Swartz

 I'm dissatisfied with the current state of the health and fitness industry.

 Current research suggests that of those participating in a fitness or strength training program/protocol: 

  • 20% can be considered non-responders, meaning, regardless of effort, this group doesn't improve.
  • 63% are normo-responders. This group gets better with effort
  • 17% fall into the super-responders group. These guys see tremendous results with relatively little effort. 

 I want better.


My goal is to turn non-responders to normos. And to turn normos to super-responders.

 This often leads me down some pretty strange avenues (like assessing an athlete's cerebellar function, using a balloon to strengthen a diaphragm, or a pencil to train visual and vestibular systems etc) to unlock performance.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for throwing the barbell around and leaving a puddle of sweat on the ground. But if we can put 20 lbs. on an athlete's deadlift by sorting out a vestibular issue with a couple of head tilts, I say why not.

After more than 20 years in this field—with more questions than answers—I’m still working on my grand-unifying theory of all things health and fitness. Until then, here’s what I do know:

1. The Nervous System runs the show. Change starts in the brain,  
2. Movement fluency is paramount 
3. Skill is the ultimate performance hack

I want to work with athletes (yes, you are an athlete) who share a long-term view of health and fitness: Athletes who know that precision, attention to detail, and consistency are the recipe for perpetual progress.
