We've all heard that in order to get respect you have to give respect. I've repeatedly found this to be true.
Did you know the same goes for your energy levels and exercise?
I often hear people out there in the world who complain of being too tired to exercise. I tell them they need to exercise more and this will give them more energy - More energy to do their job, parenting, chores, recreate... The list is endless.
At this point, they usually are experiencing some sort of cognitive dissonance. They go into a giant story about their life and how busy it is and how bagged they are at the end of the day and blah blah blah... I say this to them - "You have to give energy in order to get energy."
Now fully engulfed in a limbic brain only response they dig their heels in even further...
This story has many endings but my point in telling you this is - Moving your body, which requires you to expend energy, gives you energy.
Now enter the caveat - That not all movement will give you energy. Going out and running a marathon completely untrained will injure and crush you. However, taking a year to build up your mileage and ability will deliver you tons of energy to live your life better.
Think about it like respect... You have to give it to get it.
