Words from coach Sheppy:
Golfing is awesome. I think we can all agree on that. ;-)
In 2015 I got my Level 1 Certification in Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness and it has transformed my golf game.
At 48 I am hitting the ball further than ever, especially with my driver. I have a more consistent strike at the ball and I can walk 18 holes pain-free.
This is what TPI Golf Fitness can do for you. Yes, even you!
Let me be clear - I do not coach your golf swing. There are many different ways to swing a golf club and TPI respects that.
"We don’t believe there is one way to swing a club; we believe there are an infinite number of ways to swing a club. But we do believe that there is one efficient way for everyone to swing a club and it is based on what they can physically do."
It's important to note that efficiency is more important than style and I will work to facilitate your style's best version of an efficient sequence.
So how does TPI work?
We begin with a 16 part movement screen. These 16 screens are perfectly descriptive of the positions and movements required for an efficient golf swing. Can you tilt your pelvis? How well can you rotate your hips and your torso? How well can you disassociate one from the other? How mobile are your ankles and your shoulders? Are your glutes helping you? How's your balance? Once we know where you are we can then start to build a plan as to where we are going.
Here is a great example: Let's say you have difficulty externally rotating your trail shoulder on your downswing. The 90/90 screen will tell me this. Chances are you come over the top since your shoulder won't permit you to come from the inside - No matter how hard you have been trying it is physically impossible with your shoulder in its current condition. For this specific limitation we would begin mobilizing and strengthening your shoulder along with your entire shoulder girdle. In time you will be able to externally rotate that trail shoulder, descend to the ball from the inside, hit it further and have a more efficient golf swing.
How is the TPI method administered at Madlab?
There are many ways we can structure your training. Regardless of what direction we take the first step is meeting face to face. From there we will discuss your golf game and go through a movement screen together to find out where you are at. Once we know your weaknesses and strengths we can get to work. In our first session, I will also show you a few of the types of exercises we will be doing to improve your body and game.
Following this, we move to 5 tailored private training sessions, each 75 min in length. During these sessions I will address the weakness and limitations we gathered during your movement screen. We will mobilize and strengthen the uncooperative parts of your body to allow you to start to get into a better sequence. If more power is your goal then we can get to work on your strength, weight transfer, rotation and sequence. We can also address more general fitness concerns in these sessions if needed. I will also give you a custom catalogue of movements to practice during warm-up, mid-round, and warm down. You will also get homework to be completed to further advance your development. Upon completion of these 5 sessions, it is common to schedule regular meetups to ensure you are on the right track.
The cost of each session is $110 and a 5 pack is $550. You can buy 10 sessions for $1000.
Your body is the most important component of your golf game and I encourage you to treat it accordingly and to consider the benefits of investing in yourself over yet another new driver. :)
