Weightlifting workshop February 25th with Canadian Olympian Christine Girard

Crossfit Vancouver is hosting a Weightlifting workshop presented by Canadian Olympian Christine Girard February 25th, at 10am to 4ish Cost: $125 Space is limited to 20 athletes Our itinerary includes a morning session where we'll cover introductions, the Snatch and its accessory movements; lunch break; and an afternoon session focused on the Clean and Jerk and their accessory movements. Don't worry, both sessions are are broken into a theory segment, as well as a practical, so you'll get plenty of barbell time. Born in Ontario and raised in Quebec, Christine Girard moved to BC in January 2010 to be with her husband, a RCMP officer posted here. She has an education degree specializing in math, but for now, her real job is preparing for the next Olympic Games as an Olympic Weightlifter. Christine started the sport at the age of 10 and throughout her career she has competed at many World Championships, 3 Commonwealth Games, 2 Pan-Am Games as well as the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing where she placed 4th. She is a six time national champion and holds several Canadian Records as well as Commonwealth Games and Pan-Am Games records. She is currently training hard for a spot on the podium in London 2012. Christine is also a part time weightlifting coach. She makes individual training programs tailored to the athlete, gives technique analysis, nutrition, weight control advice and mental preparation strategies for Olympic weightlifters, including some of the best athletes in BC. Christine's pedigree: OLYMPIC GAMES 2008 Beijing – 4th Place COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2002 – Bronze 2006 – Silver (Record 121kg Clean & Jerk in the 63kg weight class) 2010 – Gold (Record 105kg Snatch and 236kg Total in the 69kg weight class) PAN-AM GAMES 2003 – 8th place 2007 – Silver 2011 – Gold Medal (Record 106kg Snatch and 238 Total in the 63kg weight class) WORLD SENIORS 2011-7th place (63kg weight class) 2010 – 7th place (69 kg weight class) Competed in 4 Junior World Championships (2002-2005). Competed in 6 World Championships (2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011). Holds record for best performance by a Canadian Olympic Weightlifter in Canadian History. Has won 6 Canadian National Titles.
