Bacon! Bacon! Bacon!
I do indeed love it... With eggs... On a burger... BLT... Just by itself.
She tried 8 different methods of cooking bacon and rated them on a scale of 1-10.
- Cook time
- Ease of preparation
- Clean up
Flavour was held constant by using the same brand of bacon for all methods. She tested for both regular and thick cut bacon.
Here are the methods she used:
- Water in skillet
- Nonstick skillet
- Baking on rack with paper towels underneath
- Air fryer
- Sous vide
- Cast iron skillet
- Baking on parchment paper
She liked the sous vide but of course the time factor and expensive gear was a minus. Baking on parchment paper won big on the ease of clean up. Seems the cast iron skillet won the day. :-)
There was some discussion amongst the different methods that allotted for personal preference in how one likes their bacon. (ie. crunchy vs soft).
